  • What should I wear?
Please wear clothes which you are comfortable to move in and help you feel fabulous! Most people wear gym attire with a top layer for warming up. Tap shoes/ballet shoes/jazz shoes (depending on your class) are a must if taking regular lessons but not a necessity for trial classes or until you ready to commit to regular classes. I can point you in the right direction if and when the time comes.
  • What do I need to bring to class?
Some water and your sense of humour. Leave all your worries at home!
  • Do I need to book?
Please pop me a message if you are thinking of coming along for a free trial as it is helpful for me when preparing for the class. If you decide you would like to continue with classes we can discuss payment methods.
  • Do I need to fill out any forms?
No, but please let me know if you have any medical issues or injuries in case of an emergency.
  • Can I attend classes if I have a medical issue or I am injured?
Please ask a health care professional for advice as to whether the classes will be safe for you to attend. Some classes such as our ‘assisted barre’ class would be beneficial for an injured dancer wanting to move gently back in to dance but only if they are ready and able to do so without risk of further injury
  • Can men join in the classes?
Of course! I have three hot stepping gentlemen attending our ballet classes and I teach private lessons to a lovely young chap. I’d love to see more fabulous fellows walk through the door. All dance classes are for every single body!
  • Is there an age limit for classes?
Classes are aimed at everyone over the age of 18. Our classes have attracted a huge range of ages across the genres which is great as it shows there is something in them for everyone. The timings of the classes can affect who is able to attend which might limit the ages of people in the various classes. I offer modifications to simplify moves or make them more challenging if necessary to accommodate the different levels.
  • Do people meet up outside of classes?
At BLOOM we encourage meet ups outside of class to encourage friendships to blossom between all of you likeminded lovelies. Some weeks we have coffee after class or nip to the local pub (If it’s after 6pm). We have been to the cinema together as well as trips to the theatre and very often hold drinks and meals at the end of term.
  • Do classes run over the school holidays?
Most BLOOM classes are structured to follow the Surrey County Council school term dates. This includes breaks for half terms, Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays. This gives you time to ‘miss us’ and be excited to get back to class! That being said, my Seated Tap and Raise The Barre classes continue over these breaks as they are run by the Banstead Community Centre. If I am away for any reason, the class members and centre will be notified. If you are new and are thinking of attending during the holiday period please phone the centre first to check that the class is running.
  • Can I bring my children to watch the class?
I feel that our classes at BLOOM dance are a space where all my lovely adults can switch off from their responsibilities, to-do lists, life worries, and can escape into the world of dance. Some of my adults can feel a bit self conscious when they’re dancing so I would prefer not to have children watching as much as I love them!
  • Is there parking at the venue?
Both The Good Shepherd Hall and the 1st Tattenhams Scout Hut have plenty of free on street parking around the venues. There is a pay by foot car park next to the Banstead Community Centre.
